Another Tasman Low On The Way
Settled weather continues into the start of the week with the a northeast flow covering the island. Come Wednesday a front brings rain for Westland and Buller with a few heavy falls for Southern Westland but is not forecasted to be much concern. The wet and windy weather continues into Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Wednesday: A trough develops off the coast of New South Wales early in the week, developing into a front The front weakens as approaches the West Coast on Wednesday. Light rain develops from the south spreading up the coast with winds strengthening.
Thursday/Friday: Simultaneously a low quickly develops in the Tasman Sea. The low is expected to reach the South Island by Friday. This low could bring heavy rain for Westland and Tasman regions and the possibility of gales for some coastal areas of Westland, Fiordland and Canterbury High Country. Latest modeling is still uncertain around rainfall totals. We are closely monitoring accumulations for the already saturated Tasman and Nelson regions.
