A ridge of high pressure covers the South Island on Wednesday, however an area of low pressure in the Tasman Sea will approach the South Island, with periods of rain in the West, and scattered falls later further east.
Severe Weather Risk: Enhanced risk of heavy rain about the northwest of the Island - 50-90mm of rain is expected about Northern Westland, Buller and Tasman, a SLIGHT risk extends out into Marlborough and Nelson, especially about the ranges.
